A Post From Loa Treet About Earth Day 2010 (written by Dave Fortson)

Good day,I spent a morning with the Community Environmental Council’s Partnership Council where several people were sharing their experiences from COP 15 in Copenhagen. It was frustrating watching the struggling COP 15 proceedings from afar and it sounded difficult for the delegation as well….yet plenty of signs for hope. Further, the speakers emphasized what many have been saying for years, local action is critical.

We cannot wait for government to forge agreements, we must relentlessly pursue the climate issue locally. Innovation, green business, smart policy, effective marketing, leadership development are just a few of the long list of local actions we can take. The power of the internet allows us to share our own successes and learn from others as local communities band together, organize and take the lead on this daunting task.

These are powerful and exciting times. These incredible challenges offer incredible opportunities for us to not simply react and defend, but to shape and improve. Let’s make it happen and do it local style.

On the LoaTree front…
